William J. Lubic
Founding Partner (Retired)
William J. Lubic founded the firm with the late Robert Kagan in 1973. Both Bob and Bill had spent nearly 20 years prior in major law firms and private practice. Bill’s extensive management and real estate experience was combined with Bob's corporate law and tax background such that the firm was ideally formulated for what lay ahead. Together with their community activism on Manhattan’s West Side and their participation in the evolution of the West Side Urban Renewal Plan, the partnership in its early days focused on coop/condo legal representation. They became well known for their leadership role in this area and the firm is now recognized as one of the most active and influential in New York.
Having practiced law since 1953, Bill Lubic, with his substantive knowledge and depth of experience, continues to serve as a resource for the attorneys in the firm. While scaling back his practice somewhat, he has a caseload consisting of complex real estate transactions representing a number of key principals in Fortune 500 Companies. He also has a varied trust and estate practice while at the same time engaging in a number of eleemosynary activities in the public health area.
Bill was formerly counsel for the Northeast Neighborhood Health Association, the Chinatown Health Clinic and for both their land and building site developments. He was a member of the Community Board’s Select Committee for West Side Urban Renewal Site Designation. He was given its official recognition by ACNM, and as well was the recipient of the Public Advocate Award from NACC in 2004, both organizations being of national character. He was also instrumental in the establishment in New York of the ACNM Foundation.
